CVS Pharmacy will help make chronic disease management and overall health more convenient with its new store model, HealthHUB.
CVS Health has opened up HealthHUBs to make it easier for patients to access chronic disease management services, according to a recent press release.
Individuals and families living in the Greater Tampa area can now access trusted care with the ease of walking into a local CVS Pharmacy. Patients can expect to receive broad, convenient, and affordable care with products and services focused on overall health and wellness.
“Customers tell us they want local access to convenient, personalized and integrated healthcare. Our HealthHUB locations do just that, helping to elevate the store into a community-based healthcare destination where consumers can engage people they trust, who are accessible and knowledgeable, to help bring everything together in a better health experience at a lower cost,” said Brian Bosnic, division vice president for CVS Pharmacy in Florida.

Access to care is a significant challenge for many Americans. One in two patients have at least one chronic illness, and data shows that nearly $500 billion of the costs associated with chronic disease are avoidable. Nine out of ten patients have voiced their need for help with chronic disease management.
“Access to good, quality healthcare is a fundamental right,” said Jane Castor, Tampa Mayor. “CVS Health’s commitment to convenient, affordable healthcare at their HealthHUB locations will be welcomed with open arms and I can’t wait for more to open around the city.”
Key features of the HealthHUB include a greater selection of health and wellness products where patients can shop for health devices that sync to mobile phones, aromatherapy, fitness essentials, durable medical equipment, sleep apnea products, and more.
Additionally, CVS Pharmacy will offer more personalized support for patients including patient education, counselling for those with chronic conditions, smoking cessation plans to help patients quit smoking, pharmacist-led diabetes education counseling, and smart device coaching for blood glucose monitors.
“Before I had to visit multiple locations to take care of my family’s health care needs,” said Vivian Semidey, who visits HealthHUB to continue recovery from back surgery, receive advice about managing her high blood pressure, and pick-up medication for her elderly parent. “I was quite surprised that everything I need for me and my family to get healthy is right here in one convenient location.”
Many services will also be expanded at the CVS MinuteClinic such as services for minor illnesses, injures, immunizations, and wellness checks. Some other services mentioned in the press release include:
- Screening, treatment, and monitoring for chronic conditions
- Annual diabetic exam, including retinopathy screening
- End-to-end sleep apnea solution
- Suite of services to help manage common health conditions
- Phlebotomy services in conjunction with a MinuteClinic visit
HealthHUB intends to bring the community together by providing wellness rooms for group events like screenings, lifestyle coaching, and learning table for customers to explore various health apps. Care Concierge teams will further customer engagement, educate customers, provide service offerings, and drive patient navigation for in-store services and products.
“We are delivering real change to the healthcare system,” said Alan Lotvin, MD, chief transformation officer for CVS Health. “Throughout HealthHUBs consumers are at the center of an unmatched retail health experience. The HealthHUB products and services are designed specifically with the consumer’s health needs, challenges, and goals in mind, so that they can easily receive coordinated, personalized care in a familiar, neighborhood location.”
