UPMC Health Plan is expanding its vendor pool to include smaller and more diverse partners, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The health plan aims to network with businesses owned by women, minorities and other groups to identify these vendors before bidding on its next government contract, John Lovelace, president of government programs and individual advantage products at UPMC Health Plan, told the publication.
UPMC Health Plan will meet with potential business partners at receptions throughout the state.
“We’re creating events for potential vendors to make connections, so when we’re looking for vendors, we’re not starting from scratch,” Mr. Lovelace said. “It’s a socially important thing to do.”
