Scott Flanders, the CEO of the eHealthInsurance, slammed Obamacare Healthare.gov technology platform, terming it as a disaster for Middle-class consumers. Criticizing the health insurance exchange website, Flanders said that Middle class Americans who earn too much to get ACA subsidies are being crushed because of the price increase.
Flanders took up the concerns related with Healthcare.gov platform, during his meeting with the White House and other technology company officials, last month on April 27th. He voiced to Chris Liddell, Assistant to the President and Director of strategic initiatives in the White House Office of American Innovation, that,
“Healthcare.Gov has been a disaster for American consumers because its technology does not measure up to basic expectations for an ecommerce platform.”
What changes does Flanders want
Citing a survey findings which states that an overwhelming majority of the consumers today want the ACA repealed or changed, Flanders demanded that a legislation be passed immediately to quickly stabilize the individual health insurance market before the enrollment opens for 2018 health insurance plans.
“It’s time to put politics aside and pass legislation that protects the critical gains made by the Affordable Care Act for low-income people and those with pre-existing medical conditions. However, new legislation must be passed to provide relief for middle-income Americans who work extremely hard to build businesses and stand on their own two feet, but who receive zero relief from these crushing price hikes,” said Flanders
What does the Survey say about Healthcare.gov
As per the email survey involving more than 1,400 eHealth customers, 64 percentare in the favor of a replacement or change to the ACA, 29 percent favor a full repeal and only 7 percent want nothing done to the ACA.
Among the same respondents, 35 percent were somewhat unconfident changes to the ACA will be made in 2017, 27 percent were not confident at all, while 30 percent were somewhat confident and 8 percent very confident.
