Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC) announced today its subsidiary WellCare of Kentucky has been selected by the state of Kentucky to continue serving the commonwealth’s Medicaid managed care program statewide. The new four-year contract is anticipated to begin on Jan. 1, 2021 running through Dec. 31, 2024 with the option for six, two-year renewal extensions.
WellCare has provided Medicaid managed care services for Kentuckians since 2011, and under the new contract, will continue to coordinate medical, behavioral and dental health for eligible Medicaid recipients in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP); Medicaid expansion; and Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) programs.

As of May 31, 2020, WellCare of Kentucky is the largest provider of Medicaid services in Kentucky serving 449,000 Medicaid members across the state.
