Marietta-based Memorial Health System is in down-to-the-wire negotiations with Southeast Ohio’s largest health insurer.
The outcome potentially could affect customers on both sides of the Ohio River.
In contract talks with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, the hospital system is seeking an increase in the money it is paid for reimbursement costs.
The two sides currently have a January 31 deadline to reach an agreement.
The hospital leadership has made an offer it hopes Anthem will accept by that time.
“We’ve been working hard with our employers who have Anthem as their insurance partner,” says hospital CEO Scott Cantley, “so we continue to keep that group updated and keep our website updated with information to the public. And know we continue to be in network.”
There’s been one extension on the deadline to reach an agreement, since talks began last spring.
In addition to patients from the Washington County area, Wood County residents are served by Marietta Memorial Hospital, including its Belpre campus.
