Louisville-based Humana Inc. has restructured its home health operations into one group and named a new leader for it.
The health insurance and health services company promoted Susan Diamond to be segment president of Home Business.
With the promotion, Diamond joins the Humana (NYSE: HUM) management team and will report directly to Humana President and CEO Bruce Broussard. Previously, she was Humana’s senior vice president of Medicare.
Diamond, a Bellarmine University graduate, will lead Humana At Home as well as Humana’s home nursing and in-home assessment operations. And she will lead Humana’s Home Operations, the company’s transition management office with Kindred at Home, according to the release.
The groups that now make up the Home Solutions Business were previously led by Healthcare Services Segment President William Fleming. He will continue to lead the clinical and pharmacy solutions businesses and is also a member of the Humana leadership team.
The move will allow Fleming to spend more time focusing on those aspects of Humana’s business.
Humana led a $4.1 billion deal with two private-equity partners that closed in July 2018 to acquire Kindred at Home from Louisville-based rehabilitation and post-acute care provider Kindred Healthcare LLC. Humana owns a 40 percent stake in Kindred at Home, with options to buy a greater stake. The private equity partners each own a 30 percent stake in Kindred at Home.
As an apparent supplement to Kindred at Home, Humana acquired Mooresville, N.C.-based hospice provider Curo Health Services LLC. That deal closed in July.
Diamond joined Humana in 2006 as a strategic advisor for investment and acquisition opportunities. She then moved into strategic, financial and operational leadership positions for Humana’s Medicare and corporate finance organizations, the release states.
