Amazon customers can now use health savings accounts or flexible savings accounts to buy medical supplies and prescriptions, according to CNBC.
HSAs and FSAs allow health plan members to siphon off part of their pretax salary into the accounts to pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses. Medical supplies on Amazon like glucometers and cold medicine can now be purchased with an HSA or FSA.
An Amazon spokesperson told CNBC, “Customers now have the flexibility to use FSA/HSA cards on a wide range of eligible over-the-counter purchases, eliminating the need to pay out-of-pocket or submit receipts for reimbursement.”
Amazon rival Walmart also allows customers to pay for medical expenses with health savings accounts, according to the report.
