Centene Corporation, a Fortune 100 diversified, multi-national healthcare company, today dedicated the cornerstone of a new 68-acre campus in the North Natomas region of Sacramento. When completed, the facility will include five four-story buildings and could bring thousands of jobs to the region, including over 2,000 new jobs.
“We expect to employ a workforce of up to 5,000 on this campus. We are pleased to offer a variety of highly-skilled positions to the area, continuing our efforts to deliver the highest quality of care,” said Michael F. Neidorff, Chairman and CEO of Centene. “In this state-of-the-art facility, we look forward to attracting and retaining some of the top talent in Sacramento to help us achieve our mission of transforming the health of the community, one person at a time.”
Most positions at the new campus will be in pharmacy management, accounting, information technology, and healthcare administration. Centene employs more than 3,000 people in the Sacramento area currently.
“California is an engine of commerce, and this LEED-certified campus is a natural fit for the fastest-growing major city in California,” said Mr. Neidorff. “We’re honored to contribute to the economic development of this region.”
“Centene’s arrival in Sacramento marks a key moment in our city’s ongoing effort to grow a modern economy with a broad job base,” said Mayor Darrell Steinberg. “It represents the biggest private sector job recruitment in the city’s modern history and a new anchor for North Natomas.”
The new facility will contain many employee amenities including a stand-alone child care facility, cafeteria and dining courtyard, fitness center, clinic, and pharmacy. The first phase of construction is scheduled to be completed in late-summer of 2020 with employees moving in beginning in the fourth quarter.
