Medical City Weatherford has named a new chief executive officer, Sean Kamber, who will start on Oct. 1.
“This is a little bit of a homecoming for my wife and I, so it’s really exciting,” Kamber said. “My folks live in Dallas and my sister and her family live in Dallas, and my brother lives in Fort Worth. I grew up in Corpus Christi, but as soon as I graduated high school my folks moved to Fort Worth, so I’ve come and gone through Weatherford and Parker County over the last 20 years now.”
Kamber has been vice president of rural and community outreach for HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division for the last year and before that was the chief operating officer at Weatherford Regional for three years.
“Coming back a year later, the hospital has a new name on the door, so to speak, so I think making sure I spend some time personally with the team and the community to make sure to see their perspective over the last year will help give stock to where we’re at and help set the tone moving forward,” Kamber said.
He received a master of science degree in health care administration from Trinity University and his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech Rawls College of Business.
“Sean’s knowledge and experience with rural outreach and the Weatherford community will help ensure an exceptional experience for patients and families,” President of Medical City Healthcare Erol Akdamar said. “I’m confident he will help lead Medical City Weatherford to the next level of excellence.”
Kamber brings more than 12 years of health care experience to the position, which includes manager for a urology group, director of operations at Texas Health Resources and assistant administrator at Laredo Medical Center.
“I think our overall mission is to really further the care improvement of human life,” Kamber said. “One of the biggest changes is being part of Medical City, which has 14 hospitals over the Metroplex, so I think from that standpoint we will be making sure we’re still developing and growing services so you don’t have to go into Fort Worth for certain services.”
Kamber said he and the team at Medical City Weatherford enjoy being involved in the community.
“Previously I had been a member of the Rotary, so I look forward to joining back, if they’ll have me,” Kamber said with a laugh. “Being involved is a way I think you really get ingrained with what the pulse of the community is. We’re excited about getting back and I’m excited to get back to work.”
