Anthem and The South Bend Clinic collaborate to increase access to high-quality healthcare
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana is committed to increasing consumer access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. As part of this commitment, Anthem and The South Bend Clinic announced today that Anthem will be adding The South Bend Clinic to its preferred list of care providers for its Anthem MediBlue Access and will continue to be a preferred provider for Anthem MediBlue Plus and Anthem MediBlue Dual Advantage. Beginning in September 2018, South Bend Clinic’s care providers will be considered in-network for these health plans, resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers compared to seeing a care provider outside of Anthem’s network.
“Anthem strives to deliver a healthcare experience that makes it easier for consumers to improve their health and well-being,” said David McNichols, President of Anthem’s Medicare Central Region. “With the addition of The South Bend Clinic to our Medicare Advantage network, consumers of our health plans will have a broader selection of cost-effective options for their medical care.”
The South Bend Clinic has nearly 150 providers covering nearly 30 different primary care, medical and surgical specialties, located in 7 campuses or offices across the region. With more than 102 years of experience, South Bend Clinic strives to fulfill its mission of providing exceptional patient-centered, physician-led, coordinated care to improve the health of its patients and the community.
“We are happy to be able to expand our accessibility to more of our region’s Medicare-eligible population,” said Paul Meyer, Chief Executive Officer of The South Bend Clinic. “We take great pride in a long history of delivering integrated and coordinated medical care to all our patients and now including Anthem’s Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.”
Anthem currently offers a number of health plans that meet the needs of individuals eligible for Medicare. These plans include Anthem MediBlue Plus, Anthem MediBlue Access, and Anthem MediBlue Dual Advantage.
Some consumers are eligible to enroll in a Medicare plan today. These individuals include those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits; consumers who qualify for a special enrollment period, such as those who recently moved; or individuals who are turning 65 and newly eligible for Medicare.
