Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is committed to increasing consumer access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. As part of this commitment, Anthem and SSM Health announced today that Anthem will be adding SSM Health St. Mary’s hospitals in Audrain and Jefferson City to its preferred list of care providers for its Anthem MediBlue Plus or Anthem MediBlue Access Medicare Advantage plans. Beginning July 2018, SSM Health St. Mary’s care providers will be considered in-network for these health plans, resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers compared to seeing a care provider outside of Anthem’s network.
“Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield strives to make healthcare simpler for consumers, and the addition of St. Mary’s hospitals to our network will make it easier for consumers to obtain high-quality healthcare,” said David McNichols, President of Anthem’s Medicare Central Region. “Our top priority is the health of our consumers. Therefore, we continue to enhance our Medicare Advantage plans, through the addition of care providers and other plan benefits. We are committed to providing people with the resources and programs needed to lead healthier lives.”
St. Mary’s hospitals in Audrain and Jefferson City offer the latest in medical services to provide consumers with exceptional care. Both facilities offer healing environments and focus on patient safety. In addition, the hospitals serve consumers in need of services in areas such as cancer, cardiology, maternity, medical imaging, men’s health, orthopedics, and women’s health.
“SSM Health and Anthem share a common goal of ensuring consumers have access to high-quality healthcare,” said Phil Gustafson, interim regional president of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. “For more than 100 years, SSM Health has been partnering with communities throughout Missouri to ensure we are meeting their healthcare needs, and joining Anthem’s Medicare Advantage network is consistent with that effort.”
