Member satisfaction topped health insurers’ priorities list while the shift to value-based care came in last, according to a recent HealthEdge survey commissioned by Survata.
For the report, Survata a research firm based in San Francisco interviewed 73 health plan executives about their top goals, challenges and strategies in today’s market.
Here are three survey insights.
1. When asked to rank their most important goals for 2018, member satisfaction came in first, followed by lower costs, improved provider relationships, increased membership, regulatory compliance and finally, the shift to value-based models.
2. Nearly 62 percent of respondents said innovation is most limited by cost structures, followed by a lack of alignment among key external players (42 percent) and a need to update processes to reflect the new modes of doing business (33 percent).
3. More than half (59 percent) of respondents said they need to modernize technology to become resilient to change, while others cited the need to update workforce skills to fit their business models (49 percent) and the need to improve engagement strategies (43 percent).
