A week after taking ownership of the Presence Medical Centers in Danville and Urbana, OSF HealthCare is still working to come to an agreement with certain insurance providers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Media relations coordinator Shelli Dankoff said since the changeover they have reached agreements with multiple insurance companies contracted with Presence, but are still negotiating an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Dankoff said patients can still expect to receive care, but at an out-of-network cost. Patients also have the option to go to another OSF hospital.
“If somebody does have in-network coverage say with Blue Cross Blue Shield and wants to come to one of our other facilities and their physician approves it and can work that out, absolutely we can work that out,” Dankoff said.
The executive director of Champaign County Health Care Consumers. Claudia Lennhoff said they are willing to help anyone navigate insurance questions.
“They may be eligible for financial assistance through the hospital and so that may help offset the cost of a hospital visit or procedure that is more expensive because it’s out-of-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield right now,” Lennhoff said.
