Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) declared on June 1 that it has acquired certain Medicare Advantage and commercial group membership from Allegian Health Plans (AHP), i.e. a wholly-owned managed care subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare.

Regulatory Requirements Of The Deal Satisfied
All the regulatory requirements for the acquisition deal have been satisfied for BCBSTX and Allegian. This deal includes nearly 20,000 members, registered through small, medium and large employer groups, as well as Medicare Advantage plans.

Tenet Healthcare and BCBSTX Contracts
This acquisition trails Tenet Healthcare and BCBSTX entering into multi-year Medicare and commercial contracts. It would provide the policyholders uninterrupted in-network access to Tenet’s hospitals, outpatient centers and employed physicians in Texas.
