On 18 May, athenahealth, one of the leading providers of network-enabled services for hospital and ambulatory clients nationwide, announced launch of MDP Labs. This is a new innovation program hosted in the company’s San Francisco office, it calls all the entrepreneurs with novel technologies that can help to fix what is broken in healthcare to apply.

1. MDP Labs Participants
This new innovation program is open to all healthcare and technology entrepreneurs, it includes all companies be it the budding startups or mature companies.
2. Evaluation Of Participants
The evaluation of the companies would be based on –
• The team
• Business model
• Stage of development
• Demonstrated traction
• Strategic fit with athenahealth’s service portfolio and business model
3. Athenahealth Will Not Take Equity
Dissimilar to other accelerator and incubator programs, athenahealth would not take equity in participating companies. But, the participating companies are considered for investment and partnership opportunities on a continuing basis.
4. MDP Labs Participants Will Have Access To
• Workspace and Community – Office space in athenahealth’s downtown San Francisco (SoMA) location.
• Tailored Programming – Internal R&D and business experts to help design programs outfitted to the participants needs.
• Mentorship –athenahealth’s product teams, senior leadership, super users, and curated network of advisors provide ongoing, dedicated mentorship and feedback.
• Partnerships and Funding Opportunities – Chances to fast track an athenahealth partnership or investment.
• Exposure to Clients – Far-reaching exposure to the athenahealth provider network and beta programs.
5. Zero Participation Cost
There is no cost involved to participate in athenahealth MDP labs program. All participants would receive office space and supplies, access to MDP Labs events and workshops, and mentorship from athenahealth network of advisors at no cost.
