Texas Health Aetna, the partnership between Texas Health Resources and Aetna, has named DeWayne Wilson and Genevieve Caruncho-Simpson as its new CFO and COO, respectively. As Texas Health Aetna becomes its own entity, it has been selecting members for its new executive leadership team.
Wilson bring more than 24 years of healthcare management experience to his new role as CFO. In this position, he will manage Texas Health Aetna’s financial performance and lead efforts to build and manage the network of its healthcare providers. Wilson most recently served as senior finance director of managed care and value-based reimbursement for St. Louis-based Ascension Health.
Caruncho-Simpson has worked with healthcare providers and payer organizations for more than 15 years. In her new role as COO, she will manage and oversee strategic and operational plans, member services, and clinical programs at Texas Health Aetna. She previously served as national senior director of clinical integration strategy and business development at St. Louis-based Ascension Health.
Texas Health Aetna is a joint venture between THR and Aetna. It combines THR’s local providers and delivery systems with Aetna’s health plan care management and health insurance technology. Its network includes UT Southwestern Medical Center, Methodist Health System, Children’s Health, and Cook Children’s.
Texas Health Aetna CEO Jeff Cook says it is dedicated to providing local and personal care to the Dallas-Fort Worth community. “We are determined to lower the cost of health insurance in, while providing a unique solution of specialized care options,” Cook said in a statement. “Wilson and Caruncho-Simpson will help us achieve these goals as we work to roll out the new health care plan this year.”
Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at James Madison University. Caruncho-Simpson earned her bachelor’s degree in health information administration and clinical social work at the University of Washington and her master’s degree in health policy and management from New York University.
