Calvin Anderson has retired as senior vice president of corporate affairs and chief of staff for Tennessee’s largest insurer.
Anderson’s retirement from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee was effective Feb. 1.
At BlueCross BlueShield, he was responsible for leading all government relations efforts and supervising government relations staff in Nashville and Washington, D.C. The government relations teams supply information to regulators and legislators, monitor legislation that could affect Blue Cross members and advocate for policies that promote access and affordability in health care.
Assuming Anderson’s governmental relations responsibilities at BCBST is Dakasha Winton, who will serve in the newly created position of chief government relations officer.
Anderson currently serves on the Greater Memphis Chamber’s board of directors. He is also on the board of a new “pragmatic public policy” think tank called ThinkTennessee, founded by former Tennessee attorney general Bob Cooper and Shanna Singh Hughey, former senior advisor to Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
