Hospital Corporation of America has renewed a long-term contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas that will keep all of the Nashville, Tenn.-based hospital chain’s Texas medical facilities in network, according to a Dallas Morning News report.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, frustrated by contract terms proposed by HCA, was prepared to cut network ties, and even notified patients and physicians that a new contract had yet to be reached. However, the two sides were able to reach an agreement in principle before the contract expired April 30.
HCA owns 44 hospitals and 30 surgical or outpatient centers that are in-network for BCBS of Texas members.
