Elders and staff at Signature Healthcare have another accomplishment to be proud off — the retirement home received the highest score possible in a survey by the State of Tennessee.
“They survey every aspect of our home and our processes,” said Administrator/CEO Barry Cotton. “Things as small as the chads from a medicine blister pack remaining in a medicine drawer.”
And the staff never knows when surveyors are coming. They can show up at any time to survey the home without any warning, so they have to maintain the highest quality of service possible every day.
“They audit homes throughout the state, and they were very complimentary of us and said we were one of the better places we had been to,” Cotton said.
Signature typically falls on the higher end of the spectrum on these types of surveys, Cotton said, which is something he’s proud of.
“The staff is what makes this happen,” Cotton said. “Their compassion and dedication to the process and their love for their residents and passion for the job they are doing — it’s what makes our home special.”
He said he thinks it’s something the community can be proud about, too. When the ratings weren’t as high many years ago, their staffing was barely over 100 and when Cotton began leading the crew, their ratings went up and they are now over 200 in staff.
“I like to describe this place as a light switch — before I came the power existed for them to excel and everything was already hardwired in,” Cotton said. “I just came in and flipped the switch, and helped them feel empowered to succeed.”
This rating puts the home in the top 10 percent in the state, and soon they will find out their rating nationally.
