Francisco D’Souza, chief executive of Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. , said the information-technology provider may consider another major acquisition in “a few more months.’’
But another sizable takeover won’t happen until Cognizant finishes integrating Trizetto Corp., a provider of health care information technology services acquired late last year for $2.7 billion, Mr. D’Souza said in an interview Monday night at The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council conference in Washington.
Cognizant executives “want to make sure it’s well integrated before we do another major acquisition,’’ he said.
The next such target is “likely will be in one of the industries we serve today,’’ such as health care, Mr. D’Souza predicted. Cognizant also prefers to look at acquisition candidates involving ”software and services coming together across an industry,’’ he added.
Mr. D’Souza didn’t rule out the possibility of Cognizant itself becoming a takeover target, adding that the company would weigh the merits of any offer.
Mr. D’Souza also anticipates that Cognizant will hire more staffers in 2016. The company employed 219,000 people world-wide as of Sept. 30, up 53,000 from the end of September two years ago.
