Vermont Business Magazine Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) announces that its members may now enroll in electronic delivery of explanation of benefits documents. BCBSVT is committed to reducing the amount of paper we use to administer our benefits plans. In past years, we’ve greatly reduced the amount of hardcopy benefits materials we send out, which reduces overall administrative costs for our members. We’re excited to announce that our members may now elect to receive their Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents online through our secure member resource center.
“We’re pleased to offer electronic Explanations of Benefits to our members. This option makes it more convenient for members to view the details of their health benefits use and has the added benefit of reducing paper and promoting environmentally friendly business practices. We believe that this will be well received by our members interested in ‘going green’,” says vice president of consumer services and planning, Catherine Hamilton.
BCBSVT members can choose to view their EOBs online rather than receiving hardcopies via United States post, but members may also choose to enroll in e-mail and text message alerts when new claims or new EOBs are available for viewing. Members can log into the member resource center at any time to see copies of their EOBs, which we retain for secure, online viewing for up to 18 months.
Members who enroll in electronic Explanations of Benefits will be entered automatically into a monthly prize giveaway between October 2015 and January 2016. BCBSVT will be giving away one Fitbit Charge HR Wireless Activity Wristband each month.
Signing up is simple, just register on the Member Resource Center and update your communication preferences to Go Green. It will only take you a few seconds and can be accomplished with three easy steps.
