Health insurance giant Humana Inc. says it’s hiring about 600 temporary workers.
In an email Monday, Humana communications consultant Kate Marx said the company is looking for enrollment specialists to review and process Medicare Advantage applications and respond to inquiries.
The workers would be based downtown and would serve the company for six months or less. The best candidates would have Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency, she said. They would start sometime in mid-September, ahead of the open-enrollment period for Medicare, which starts on Oct. 15. Those interested in the jobs can apply here.
Humana is based in Louisville and is one of the city’s largest employers, with about 12,300 local workers. In July, it was announced that the company had agreed to be sold to Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna Inc. for $37 billion. Part of the reason Aetna was interested in the company was its large Medicare business.
