Kalamazoo, MI – Deborah Szmuszkovicz Devaux was recently named chief operating officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
The Kalamazoo native, who is senior vice president of Consumer and Provider Solutions and interim chief strategy officer at Blue Cross, will assume her new role at the end of 2015.
Devaux joined Blue Cross in 2000 but has held leadership positions in health plans, physician and hospital systems, and health care consulting firms since 1982.
In her new role, she will oversee information technology and operations, member and provider services, network management, performance measurement and improvement, and health and medical management for the Boston-based not-for-profit health plan.
It serves 2.8 million members.
The daughter of Jacob and Rachel Szmuszkovicz, of Kalamazoo, Devaux has a master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and is an adjunct faculty member at the Harvard School of Public Health and Tufts Medical School.
Jacob Szmuszkovicz is a retired Ph.D. scientist from The Upjohn Co. Rachel Szmuszkovicz formerly served as director of the Congregation of Moses Religious School, and as a speaker on topics related to Judaism and the Hebrew language in Southwest Michigan.
