Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital spokesman Mark Durand said Tuesday evening Christus Health System and Blue Cross-Blue Shield have reached an agreement. The deal saves a nearly 50-year-long partnership between the health care provider and the insurance company.
Both entities were facing a midnight deadline, and without a deal, Christus would have stopped accepting Blue Cross-Blue Shield insurance.
Durand stressed that both companies had been working hard to reach an agreement. However, details about the deal have not yet been made public.
Christus Health System had been asking for a ½% increase for next year, while Blue Cross-Blue Shield had been asking for Christus to drop their costs by as much as 20%.
