One of Dayton’s largest hospital groups is partnering with Anthem in a bid to reduce costs.
Kettering Health Network and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio are launching a patient-centered primary care collaboration, the two groups announced Monday. Kettering is the latest hospital group to join the Enhanced Personal Health Care primary care program Anthem launched in 2013.
It’s the latest partnership among health care providers in Ohio, which are increasingly looking to share resources and coordinate to cut down on costs. Kettering Health Network has more than 7,100 employees and several hospitals and outpatient facilities across western Ohio.
Kettering is already part of Anthem’s provider network, and gives incentives to physician practices that meet a number of set goals around cost saving and quality standards.
The partnership has a stated mission of making health care more accessible to patients and reducing cost and wait times. It’s also seeking more preventative care, which cuts down on more expensive procedures in the long term.
“Kettering Health Network and Kettering Physician Network welcome this opportunity to partner with Anthem on this innovative approach to delivering cost-effective, quality health care in the communities in which we serve,” said Terri Day, president of Kettering Health Network. “The Enhanced Personal Health Care program is an excellent example of how health plans and providers can collaborate on a patient-centered model of care.”
The two groups will collect and analyze data on quality, costs and usage, with the end goal of looking for more ways to collaborate and share costs.
“I am pleased that Anthem and Kettering Health Network are continuing to work together to provide access to quality health care to the region,” said Erin Hoeflinger, President of Anthem in Ohio. “Anthem is an industry leader in developing programs like this one that rewards quality care and ultimately reduces costs for consumers. Kettering is an important partner and this initiative allows us to continue to align our resources on programs that benefit local employers and the community.”
