North Texas has yet another accountable care organization. This one comes by way of Cigna and the North Texas Clinically Integrated Network, marking the sixth that the insurance provider is running throughout the region as part of Cigna Collaborative Care.
This ACO went into effect on January 1.
“Our collaboration with Cigna is a logical step and a great fit for us,” said Dr. John Moore president of TXCIN. “We focus every day on improving the health care delivery system by rewarding physicians for leading patients to healthier outcomes and providing a better patient experience.”
North Texas CIN is a nonprofit conglomeration of primary care and specialty providers through the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. NTCIN physicians will monitor the patient’s medical care. Residents insured through Cigna will have the choice to receive care through the ACO without changing their plans. Registered nurses will coordinate care and help monitor chronic conditions.
“This collaboration presents an excellent opportunity to help transform the health care delivery system,” said Dr. Rick Watson, Cigna’s senior medical director for North Texas. “When we reward doctors for results and focus on prevention, wellness, health improvement and care coordination, we can create a system that works for everyone who uses, pays for or delivers health care.”
