In a vote of confidence in MissionPoint Health Partners’ accountable care organization model, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has extended its partnership with the Nashville-based group through 2020.
The two groups initially announced in 2013 a four-year partnership, which launched Jan. 1 of last year. Today’s extension through 2020 tacks on another two years to that deal, which has led to the creation of two specialized product offerings from BCBS.
Network E, in which MissionPoint is the sole Nashville-area provider, was the most popular selection from the insurer in the state during the first year of Obamacare open enrollment. The two groups have since launche d Network M, a dual-network plan offered to large, self-funded employers.
The expanded partnership will now touch a wider footprint as well, according to a news release. BlueCross members in 10 additional counties will now have access to MissionPoint’s services, the release says.
MissionPoint, launched by Saint Thomas Health in 2012, now serves more than 200,000 members and has expanded into additional states.
“BlueCross is a valued partner in our efforts to extend our unique, high-touch clinical management model to an increasing number of individuals and employers across middle Tennessee,” said Jason Dinger, CEO of MissionPoint Health Partners, said in the release.
