BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is bringing its photo contest back for the new year after a successful run throughout 2014. The LiveLifeBlue contest gave residents a chance to earn prize packages to some of the state’s popular attractions by taking photos of themselves engaging in physical activity.
“We had fun with it and people all over the state seemed to enjoy it, so we plan to continue this year with even more prizes. It’s a great way for members to express what health and wellness mean to them,” said BlueCross Senior Vice President Matt Shaffer. “Separately, we also recognize companies that have stepped up to the challenge of promoting a healthier workplace with our business LiveLifeBlue awards that will be presented in March.”
More than 600 photos were submitted to the monthly contest last year. BlueCross officials said a healthy selfie photo gallery also was viewed more than 10,000 times. Winners came from across the state including Columbia, Lexington, Greenville and Charleston.
Prizes included admission to the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, the Columbia Museum of Art, the South Carolina Jazz Festival in Cheraw, the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in Columbia, the Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville, BMW Manufacturing’s Ultimate Driving Weekend in Greer and Columbia’s Famously Hot New Year celebration.
The 2015 contest will take place on a quarterly basis, starting in April, and will be featured on Facebook to give users a chance to comment on photos win prizes.
Companies with 50 or more employees that have an account with BlueCross also can enter for a chance to win the LiveLifeBlueAward for creating an innovative approach to workplace wellness. Two companies from the Upstate, Midlands/Pee Dee and Coastal regions will be announced as winners in March.
