Austin Regional Clinic and Southwest Provider Accountable Care of Austin are among the three health care practice groups that have signed on as partners of a new group of physician-led Accountable Care Organizations created by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, based in Richardson, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
The ACOs are set up to provide doctors with tools and resources to lower the cost of care for patients while improving outcomes.
“The three new BCBSTX ACOs reflect our commitment to working with physician leaders to help their practices evolve to a value-based care model that supports their efforts to increase quality and manage costs to better serve their patients,” Jack Towsley, divisional senior vice president of Texas health care delivery for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, said in a statement.
Austin Regional Clinic has locations throughout Central Texas with 420 physicians and provides service for approximately 25,000 members. Southwest Provider Accountable Care has 90 physicians and 10,000 members.
