EDINA, Minn. — As shoppers search for bargains this holiday season, they also will find something else for sale: health insurance.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota opened the company’s first retail store on Saturday. They say the Blue Cross store, located in the Yorkdale Shoppes mall on York Avenue in Edina, will be a place where people can receive face-to-face help ranging from personalized service and claims support to free wellness and healthy living seminars.
Edina resident Don Krebs says the retail store is a good idea and will hopefully make it easier to narrow down the best health plans.
“I don’t know if you have ever sat down and tried to compare one to the other but it is very difficult. I’m an ex-engineer and it is not easy to dig through all of this information online. To be able to walk in and ask the question ‘is my gym membership covered’ and they say ‘yes’ — it is so much easier,” he said.
