Eric Elliott will step down from his post as president and CEO of pharmacy-benefits manager Prime Therapeutics in April, the company said Thursday.
Eagan-based Prime said Elliott, the company’s top executive since 2010, decided not to renew his contract. The business will begin a search for his replacement soon.
Elliott led Prime through a growth spurt that included doubling the company’s workforce to roughly 3,200 employees. The company is jointly owned by several Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans around the country and generates about $2.5 billion in revenue.
Before joining Prime, Elliott held leadership roles at Cigna, Aetna Inc. and Rite Aid Corp.
