Nashville-based health care giant HCA is buying Dallas-based CareNow, which owns 24 urgent care centers in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close this quarter.
CareNow will become a division of HCA, which currently operates 11 hospitals and more than 50 ambulatory sites in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a prepared statement from HCA.
“CareNow has a strong brand and will add an exceptional network of urgent care centers and 130 physicians that complement our hospital, emergency and outpatient services in Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Sam Hazen, HCA president of operations. “This transaction represents two trusted providers coming together to deliver a broader and more integrated level of quality health care services.”
This is the second purchase for HCA in as many months, following last month’s announcement that the company is adding Massachusetts-based PatientKeeper as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Also this week, HCA announced CEO Milton Johnson would take on the chairman role at the end of the year, and reported more than 30 percent growth in third-quarter earnings.
