UnitedHealthcare is hiring another 100 people in Albuquerque, the firm has announced.
United, which is ramping up as an insurer with New Mexico’s Medicaid program, is holding a job fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pyramid North, 5151 San Francisco Road NE, Albuquerque. The company is looking to hire claims representative associates, telephone representatives and customer care professionals in Albuquerque, the company said.
Earlier this year, United announced that it was hiring 64 people to service its Medicaid contract, which takes effect on Jan. 1.
Along with United, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and Presbyterian Health Plan have said they will be hiring more than 900 people as part of their Medicaid contracts.
The four insurers won their bids in February to be part of the state’s $4 billion Medicaid program.
Lovelace Health Plan, which had been a Medicaid provider for years, lost its bid to be part of the program. The firm said last week that it was laying off 43 employees as a result of not winning the Medicaid contract.
