Humana’s St. Petersburg-based unit that manages chronic-care patients will be adding 100 employees over the next six months.
Humana Cares/SeniorBridge will also be expanding its 75,000-square-foot national care center here, adding about 8,000 square feet. The addition will give the Humana room to handle up to 475 more employees.
The Louisville, Ky., health insurer, one of the Tampa Bay region’s biggest employers, launched Humana Cares in 2009 to give seniors and patients with chronic illnesses better access to medical professionals via phone and video. The unit has been aggressively expanding every year.
Humana currently has about 3,000 employees in Tampa Bay. The Humana Cares unit has more than 1,700 associates, including more than 1,000 based in the bay area.
