UnitedHealth Group, a national health benefits and services company will be creating nearly 1,500 new jobs in Texas, 330 of which will be located in Sugar Land.
The company is opening a new OptumRx office, a pharmacy benefits management (PBM) organization and one of the Optum companies of UnitedHealth Group, in Sugar Land. The facility is expected to be ready for occupancy later this year, with recruiting for the 330 open positions expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
OptumRx will be hiring for claim processers and pharmacists, as well as a variety of positions involving training, workforce management and quality management. The company expects the facility to be fully staffed by the end of next year to help ensure OptumRx is prepared to serve millions of additional UnitedHealthcare employer and individual health plan participants.
UnitedHealth Group – through its UnitedHealthcare, OptumHealth, OptumInsight and OptumRX divisions – serves 3.3 million individuals in Texas and employs 10,600 people in its 79 offices throughout the state, including its four offices in Houston.
