The U.S. has 3 times the infant mortality rate of most high-income countries, according to America Health Ranking's® 2023 Health of Women and Children Report. While the numbers are troubling, there are promising efforts underway to address maternal and infant health outcomes.

Our new article, "Making inroads with maternal health equity" provides in-depth insights into programs that are making a significant difference. Two programs we highlight in the article include:

• Indiana's My Healthy Baby program connects pregnant women to personalized support, funded with $3.3 million annually, to help them receive the care they need.
• Washington, D.C.'s, HONEY program addresses maternal health disparities with a $2 million HRSA grant and a $3.75 million Day One Fund award. HONEY is a model for community-based solutions.

These programs aim to reduce mortality rates and improve outcomes for Black women and infants, using the power of targeted interventions.
