New Platform PreciseMDX Aims to Simplify Diagnostic Testing

Share:

September 11, 2021

PreciseMDX has announced a new digital health platform that aims to simplify diagnostic testing for patients, providers, and labs.

The company said the system allows for easier scheduling, coordination for on-site or at-home tests, and results reporting.

The platform automates data entry, which is particularly valuable when facing a large volume of tests, like many labs faced during the pandemic, PreciseMDX said.

“The scramble to ramp up testing during COVID-19 exposed a need in the healthcare industry for an automated diagnostic testing experience so that labs can scale rapidly, patients can have control over the process and receive results quickly, and providers can treat patients quicker with a faster, more connected system,” PreciseMDX co-founder and CEO Mark Dorner said in a statement.

The pandemic has created new demand for diagnostic testing, and some labs have been overwhelmed by the need for tests during COVID-19 surges.

“We’re probably at about 120% with our volume increase compared to where we were at two weeks ago,” Diagnostic Laboratory Services president Mark Wasielewski told KHON2 in Honolulu.

THE LARGER TREND

The market for accessible COVID-19 tests has also grown. As of July 16, the Food and Drug Administration said 396 tests and sample collection devices were granted Emergency Use Authorization.

In May, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine announced they had developed an alternative to RT-PCR tests, which require trained technicians to perform and days to get results. In March, Amazon landed a EUA for its test kit with at-home sample collection.

Other diagnostics and testing companies include Cue Health, EverlyWell, and Ellume Health.
