Cigna Corporation’s health services segment Evernorth today announced the expansion of its industry-first Digital Health Formulary, adding Omada Health’s program for at-home physical therapy and personalized coaching for chronic pain to the platform. Omada MSK by Physera joins Omada’s existing formulary programs for diabetes prevention, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. The musculoskeletal program will be available to formulary customers beginning in 2021, giving Omada the broadest range of programs on the industry-leading platform. Created in 2019, the Digital Health Formulary features solutions that are evaluated and measured on clinical effectiveness, usability, scalability, and interoperability.
“Evernorth has made rigorous evaluation a prerequisite for any solution included on its digital health formulary,” said Omada CEO and Co-Founder Sean Duffy. “Having four Omada programs available beginning next year speaks to both the breadth and depth of virtual care that only Omada can provide. The inclusion of Omada MSK by Physera will provide the potential for tens of millions of individuals across the country to access Omada’s full suite of chronic disease programs. We’re excited to demonstrate our value for our participants, and for our partners.”
“When Physera joined the Omada portfolio of programs earlier this year, we knew we had joined a team that could expand our impact, and complement our clinical expertise in MSK care,” added Physera CEO Dan Rubinstein. “The inclusion of our musculoskeletal solution on the Evernorth Digital Health Formulary is validation of our approach to making physical therapy, and care for chronic pain, effective and accessible through technology — and is a realization of what we know our combined team can do together.”
To date, health plans covering more than 20 million Americans offer solutions from Evernorth’s Digital Health Formulary to their members. Plan sponsors can choose to invest and deploy individual solutions, or a combination of programs on the platform. In addition to rigorous measurement from physicians, pharmacists, and health research scientists, programs on the formulary are also evaluated by user-experience experts. People using programs on the Digital Health Formulary may also receive support from specialist pharmacists to further optimize the potential health benefits of the chosen solutions.
