Willis-Knighton Health System Signs to Implement MEDITECH Expanse

November 19, 2019

The largest healthcare system in North Louisiana renews long-term partnership with MEDITECH to deploy the fully-integrated EHR platform across all care settings.

Willis-Knighton Health System (Shreveport, LA) announced it has signed to implement MEDITECH’s mobile, web-based Enterprise Health Record (EHR), Expanse, across its five hospitals and 140 clinics. The health system shares MEDITECH’s vision for improving patient care through advanced technologies, and saw immense value in the vendor’s progressive solutions, including Expanse Population Health, which will enable them to deliver care that reaches far beyond the hospital and physician’s office.

“We are upgrading to MEDITECH’s Expanse system because it meets the high-quality standards we are seeking as we upgrade data management at Willis-Knighton,” said President and CEO of Willis-Knighton Health System, James K. Elrod. “This will not only enhance care, it will also enhance the quality of life for our physicians and other staff who use our electronic health record.”

Elrod continued, “Our physicians will be able to seamlessly review, synchronize, and coordinate care for patients in all locations. Due to our long-term relationship with MEDITECH, we are confident that Expanse will support our data management and documentation needs now and well into the future.”

Cutting-edge technology combined with a previous long-term relationship with MEDITECH were key factors in Willis-Knighton’s decision to move to Expanse. The organization had deployed MEDITECH’s legacy system in the 90’s and more recently utilized another EHR solution.

“Willis-Knighton is looking forward to this journey with our long-term financial system partner, MEDITECH,” stated Willis-Knighton Health System Senior VP of Finance, Mary Jane Ward. “Expanse will provide us with opportunities to grow and enhance our clinical and operational excellence, and innovate the way we deliver care to our patients.”

MEDITECH Executive Vice President, Helen Waters, said, “Willis-Knighton represents a unique organization rich in history and pride, now taking their passion for healthcare and the communities they serve to a new level, with an integrated service delivery model. MEDITECH is proud to win their vote of confidence and incredibly excited to witness their impact with this Expanse deployment.”
