DEARhealth, a University of California Los Angeles spinout developing an artificial intelligence-powered care management platform, raised $6.8 million in a Series A funding round led by Philips’ venture arm.
Philips Health Technology Ventures, Vesalius Biocapital III and Health Innovations also participated in the round. The funding will enable DEARhealth to scale its operations into more hospitals across the U.S. and to expand internationally with the opening of a new European headquarters in Amsterdam.
The DEARhealth platform uses AI to predict the most effective care pathways for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, chronic pain, liver and kidney diseases and ovarian cancer, with epilepsy and several more chronic conditions expected to be added to the platform soon. These pathways are designed to provide the lowest risk to patients, and can be adjusted by physicians based on changes in condition or unexpected test results.
