Exactech, a developer and producer of bone and joint restoration products and biologic solutions for extremities, knees and hips, announced today that it has acquired EPIC Extremity, a designer of screw and plating systems for the foot and ankle. Exactech has been distributing the product for the past year as the EPIC Extremity foot and ankle reconstruction system and now has full ownership of the product line.
“We are thrilled to complete this acquisition to continue the relationship and our commitment to the foot and ankle market,” said Darin Johnson, senior vice president, extremities. “We are excited to combine these products with the Vantage® Total Ankle System to provide an expanded line of solutions.”
Specifically, the EPIC Extremity foot and ankle reconstruction system addresses great toe arthritis, fractures, hallux valgus deformities, and midfoot injuries in a customizable, modular tray specific to disease states. It also offers a separate fusion plating system for ankle arthrodesis.
“At the core of EPIC Extremity was a desire to provide surgeons with implant systems that offer quality patient care and service in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Dan Schwartzbauer, founder and president of EPIC Extremity. “With Exactech’s acquisition, we feel confident that we can accomplish this mission even further, and we look forward to seeing its growth and even more patients being served.”
