Cincinnati Children’s, Teladoc to Develop First Pediatric-Specific Consumer Telehealth Platform

Share:

April 15, 2019

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (Cincinnati Children’s) is teaming up with virtual care provider Teladoc Health to develop the industry’s first consumer pediatric telehealth platform. The pediatric-specific consumer telehealth platform builds off Cincinnati Children’s existing Center for Telehealth that currently offers video-based telemedicine clinics, video consults, e-visits and remote provider case conferences to help build relationships with physicians and families to speed up delivery of high-quality care.

Collaboration Details

Dr. Steve Davis, Chief Operating Officer of Cincinnati Children’s, will lead an interdisciplinary team that will serve in an advisory role. This will bring Cincinnati Children’s proven, pediatric clinical care expertise to guide the development. Pediatric-specific workflows, clinical requirements and user experience for patients and their families will be core components of the platform.

Platform development will kick off during the second quarter, with availability to other pediatric hospitals and medical centers targeted for early 2020.

Significance of Consumer Pediatric Telehealth Platform

“Whether we’re treating a child who has a complicated diagnosis or treating and managing more common illness, our pursuit of the best outcomes means that our telehealth system should be tailored to pediatric needs,” explained Marianne James, SVP Information Services and CIO, Cincinnati Children’s. “Cincinnati Children’s, through our Center for Telehealth, continues to expand telehealth services for pediatric patients. We are proud to be at the forefront of bringing an innovative platform to market that will benefit other hospitals, children and families across the country.”
