Five United States-based employees of the Wipro Technologies have sued the Indian Tech giant of discrimination of employment practices. The former employees accused the company of discriminatory employment practices” based on nationality and race. The Class Action Suit was filed against the company in March 2020 in the New Jersey District court.
Wipro Sued by Former Employees for Employment Discrimination based on race
The employees alleged the company of discrimination in the lawsuit. The lawsuit noted that Because Wipro preferred South Asians and Indians, these individuals are regularly awarded higher appraisal scores, compared to their non-South Asian and non-Indian colleagues. Additionally, some non-South Asian and non-Indian individuals are never given appraisal scores at all.

The lawsuit accused the company of terminating the Non-Asians and Indians at a higher rate than their Indian counterparts in the US.

The case against the company for discriminatory practices
The employees of the Hispanic and Caucasian origin have filed their cases separately against the discrimination based on their race, which led to their firing from the job. The suit also said that the company practiced bias for employing Indian and South Asians located in the US and scored them higher in the appraisal.
US Based employees filed Class Action Suit
The Wipro employees working in the US at the various locations in the last ten years have asked the court to classify their case as the Class action suit as per the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The employees of the company asked the court to order the company to practice a valid and unbiased method for promoting, terminating, and hiring the resources.
Other cases of the same league against the company
In December last year, another case was African American employee also accused the company of terminating employees based on their race. They also asked for compensation due to the stress caused by the discriminatory actions of the company.
