Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate, slams Facebook over disinformation charges
Schultz’s appointment as CMO has come in weeks before the 2020 US election. Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate recently slammed Facebook as the nation’s prime propagator of disinformation about the country’s voting process in a letter sent to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. It was sent after the social media giant refused to take out the voting misinformation posted by President Donald Trump.
NAACP, Common Sense Media, and the Anti-Defamation League launched a “Stop Hate for Profit” campaign against Facebook in summer. It was joined by numerous companies that pledged to stop advertising on Facebook-owned platforms temporarily. This campaign was launched so that the social media giant would aggressively police, block hate speech, and misinformation.
