Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, just received breakthrough approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to go ahead and use its Prime Air delivery drones for delivery Amazon orders. Approval is a momentous achievement for the company as now it can efficiently use drones to deliver the order packages to the clients across locations.
Amazon Can Expand Its Unmanned Delivery Process with FAA Approval
The Approval helps Amazon to automate and expand its highly sophisticated unmanned package delivery process. This is indeed a pathbreaking achievement for the company. Amazon now has the privilege to carry the packages on small drones, which are beyond the visual line of sight of the operator. The privilege comes as the company received Part 135 of FAA regulations certification.

Prime Air Delivery May Begin Soon
In 2019 ReMars conference, Amazon presented an electric delivery drone that can carry packages of up to 5 pounds to the client’s address within 30 minutes and fly to around 15 miles. During the time of showcase, the Amazon CEO for Worldwide consumer said that the drone delivery model could start within a few months.
Thorough Evidence Submitted and Demonstration To Get Certification
The company has said that now after FAA certification, it will begin to test customer package drop. It also cited that the teams have undergone intense training to prove that it can deliver packages safely. To obtain certifications, the company provided thorough evidence and demonstrated the technology to Federal inspectors.
VP Speaks About The FAA Approval
David Carbon, Vice President of Prime Air, issued a statement and cited that this is a massive achievement for the company
“This certification is an important step forward for Prime Air and indicates the FAA’s confidence in Amazon’s operating and safety procedures for an autonomous drone delivery service that will one day deliver packages to our customers around the world,” He further added, “We will continue to develop and refine our technology to fully integrate delivery drones into the airspace, and work closely with the FAA and other regulators around the world to realize our vision of 30 minute delivery.”
Highly Ambitious Drone Delivery Model
Amazon has been working on the drone delivery model since 2013, wherein it intends to deliver packages at the address in less than 30 minutes. Last year the company sent a petition for the Federal Approval, mentioning that the delivery model would happen in a scarcely populated area. Only packages lighter than 5 pounds would be delivered.
