Bose has appointed its first female chief executive officer, Lila Snyder. She is taking over as the new CEO after Phil Hess stepped down from this position early this year.
On her appointment, Snyder said that she is excited to join the team as CEO and will be starting from September 1, 2020.
Snyder was previously the president of global e-commerce at Pitney Bowes. She was also a partner at the consulting firm McKinsey. She has a master’s and a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from MIT. Interestingly, Bose founder Amar Bose was a longtime professor at MIT. Also, several other executives, including Maresca are MIT alumni.

A dramatic shift to online shopping due to COVID-19
Last January, the company reported that it was in the process of closing 119 stores locations across Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, they observed a dramatic shift to online shopping. With this scenario, Snyder’s e-commerce background will help Bose in continuing this shift toward online selling and marketing.
The pandemic has had an impact on the audio company. It reportedly scrapped Bose AR, its augmented reality audio platform. Also, Bose is yet to release two earbud models announced back in 2019 to fight the growing dominance of Apple in the wireless earbud segment.
