Microsoft Office Fluid is a new kind of Office document which is available and seemingly lives on the web. The PowerPoint, Excel, and Word have a new version in which the office content is now available outside the customary documents. Various tables, graphs, and listicles, etc. which were a part of office documents and spreadsheets, will now exist outside into the interactive modules.
Office Fluid – The new-age office document
Microsoft has named it like Lego Block Fluid components, which the users can edit in real-time through an app. And components like a table can be created independently and then available on the internet like a Lego piece which any user can utilize and modify.
1] Office Fluid is like Lego Pieces
“Imagine you could take those Lego pieces and put them in any place you wanted: in emails, in chats, in other apps,” Jared Spataro, the head of Microsoft 365, said in an interview with The Verge. “As people work on them, they will always be\ updated and contain the latest information.”

2] The Fluid is like advanced Google Docs
Fluid is compared to Google Docs; however, it is a more substantial and more definitive version. Microsoft is incredibly proud of its ambitious creation and boasts it as the most productive piece for the future. The company is open-sourcing the Fluid framework to let the other developers help in shaping the framework it has developed. The first look of Fluid features would be available to some users of Office.com in the next few months.
3] Fluid for Developers is Web-based Framework
“Fluid for developers is a web-based framework that you can use to make your apps collaborative instantly,” says Jared Spataro, Corporate VP, Microsoft 365. “It provides data structures that perform low-latency synchronization. Those data structures connect between themselves with a relay service, and that relay service is designed to connect endpoints.”
4] Fluid is open source
Spataro also talked about open-sourcing Fluid,
“We do think it’s a new day. This is the world in which Microsoft is collaborating with Google on the Chromium open-source project, so we believe anything is possible,”
“We think that’s good for all of us. We think the innovation that happens when people work together far outweighs any of the things you give up in doing it in a closed way.”
5] Fluid is web-focused.
Fluid relates to Microsoft’s efforts to increasingly link its services and offerings on the web. The company is looking to embrace opensource and the web. Spataro again highlighted the move as he noted, “As we looked forward to the future … we started to recognize the web is where it’s at, “Deciding to use web technologies as the basis of what we’re creating ultimately wasn’t all that difficult because of the way the world has gone.”
