Microsoft has announced that it would acquire Affirmed Networks, a native cloud mobile network solutions provider. The company provides virtual infrastructure and solutions to network operators. Microsoft has not yet detailed the terms and conditions of the acquisition.
Affirmed Networks Acquired by Microsoft
Microsoft is consistently investing in strengthening its cloud systems to create a solid foothold in the cloud computing market, which is still dominated by Amazon Web Services. The company is also looking forward to assisting the telecom industry operators to maintain their 5G networks on the cloud platforms.
Deal Details and Terms not disclosed yet
Once the deal is completed, the company will be a part of Microsoft; however, the distribution of management roles and leadership hierarchy is yet to be revealed.

Affirmed CEO, Anand Spoke about the acquisition in a message
We founded Affirmed with a vision to help mobile operators fundamentally transform how they build and operate their networks and to create and deliver innovative new services at a significantly lower cost than what was considered possible,
He added.
“We gave on that vision by bringing market-leading innovation in virtual evolved packet core, a cloud-native platform for 5G, and a range of capabilities in automation and orchestration that made us a leader with over 100 customers across the globe”.

Affirmed Networks very recently named Anand Krishnamurthy as the new CEO and President following Hassan Ahmed, who retires from the company soon.
Microsoft also commented on the acquisition
The Corporate Vice President of Azure Networking, Yousef Khalid wrote a blog post expressing his views on the purchase. With Affirmed Networks, we will be able to offer new and innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of operators, including managing their network workloads in the cloud.”
An innovation for telecom operators to handle 5G networks over the cloud
He further said,
“Previous generations of wireless networks have been based on purpose-built hardware. We believe that with innovation in software and by making use of broadly available cloud computing platforms like Microsoft Azure, operators can deploy and maintain 5G networks and services more efficiently, more cost-effectively, more rapidly and more securely”.
