LG Electronics announced today that it would not be attending the Mobile World Congress Expo 2020 to be held in Barcelona, Spain, due to the threat of the Coronavirus outbreak in China, which has had impeding affect the world over.
LG Electronics, which is LG corporation’s mobile phone and consumer devices division, has made it clear that it is withdrawing participation keeping in view the safety of its employees.

The Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China, has already created much hue and cry in the world wherein countries are issuing travel advisories to its citizens. LG said that the company would hold separate events in the coming months to announce its new mobile products.

“With the safety of its employees and general public foremost in mind, LG has decided to withdraw from exhibiting and participating in MWC 2020 later this month in Barcelona, Spain. This decision will prevent needlessly exposing hundreds of LG employees to international travel, which most health experts have advised”.
MWC 2020 an essential event for consumer tech manufacturers
The Smartphone conference, MWC to be held in Barcelona, is a critical annual event for the Mobile phone companies. Mostly, the manufacturers of the Asian consumer goods exhibit their latest smartphones and technology to the international markets. The event is attended by the biggest tech companies in the mobile phone market.
Coronavirus Impacting MWC 2020
The Coronavirus outbreak has marred the enthusiasm, and LG is the second big company to withdraw its participation. Earlier ZTE also announced that it would not participate in the event.
Organizers Say MWC 2020 to be held as planned
The GSMA trade group, which is the organizer of the event, has, however, said that the conference would be conducted as scheduled, and the impact of the virus is minimal on the occasion. GSMA has also published the risk mitigation measures along with strict hygiene practices like no handshake, more cleanliness near microphones, demonstration booths and speakers, etc.
