Vision for New Decade
Zuckerberg has been sharing his New year Resolution every January since 2009. He has listed some of the most exciting things like visiting every state in the US, reading new books or running long distances. However, this year he took on the Social Media site Facebook to talk about his goal for the next decade. His long Facebook post read;
“While I’m glad I did annual challenges over the last decade, it’s time to do something different. This decade I’m going to take a longer-term focus. Rather than having year-to-year difficulties, I’ve tried to think about what I hope the world and my life will look in 2030 so I can make sure I’m focusing on those things.”
Long and Intensive Post
The long Facebook Post by Zuckerberg included his vision for the social media giant in the next decade. He talked about the Generational change and how the current generation is facing threats and challenges like Climate Change, higher cost of education and healthcare.
Facebook: A millennial Company
He addressed Facebook as a Millennial company that focuses on the issues of the young generation. An excerpt from the post read.
“In many ways, Facebook is a millennial company with the issues of this generation in mind. At the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, our focus is on very long-term efforts that will primarily help our children’s generation, like investing in curing, preventing and managing all diseases in our children’s lifetimes, or making primary education more personalized to student’s needs. Over the next decade, we’ll focus more on funding and giving a platform to younger entrepreneurs, scientists, and leaders to enable these changes.”
Focus on Regulation
Mark Zuckerberg also talked about the long-term goal to observe how and by whom the internet should be regulated. He spoke of the new form of governance and the plans to consolidate Facebook Inc as a fintech and to develop the next-gen Smartphone computing platform. He writes;
“Our digital social environments will feel very different over the next 5+ years, re-emphasizing private interactions and helping us build the smaller communities we all need in our lives.”
Zuckerberg also talked about the regulatory issues and requested the government bodies to make and implement rules for the internet.
